November 2008 (London, England) – During my trip home this Fall, I was in for a very nice surprise, the pound sterling dropped in value from the $2 per pound mark to $1.50 per pound mark. This presented huge savings for me and made this trip home one of the cheapest trips home every.
I am used to seeing the pound hovering at the $2.00 mark and back in the 90′s, remember a trip where the pound was above the $2.15 mark. But on this trip, I was able to withdraw funds from my bank account at an amazing rate. I was able to secure £50 for $80!!!! I was use to seeing $100 or $125 disappear from my account for £50 .
Due to the global economic slow down the stores all had signs up with 20% to 60% off. I took advantage of such offers at Lillywhites, pickup some clothing, but other wise, I refrained from going overboard on spending during this trip.
